Who Won the Jeopardy Tournament Last Night? Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions Crowns New Champion
Jeopardy! fans, rejoice! The 2024 Tournament of Champions concluded in dramatic fashion on Tuesday night, and we have a new champion. The victor, after a series of intense matches, is Yogesh Raut from Vancouver, Washington.
Yogesh Raut, a social psychology expert from Vancouver, Washington, clinched the championship after securing three wins in the best-of-seven final rounds.
Raut’s journey to victory wasn’t easy. He faced stiff competition throughout the tournament, including a formidable opponent in Troy Meyer from Tampa, Florida. Meyer put up a valiant fight, even leading during the first half of the final episode. However, Raut’s strategic gameplay and knowledge base ultimately secured him the win.
Raut, who earlier triumphed three times during his initial run on the show, secured his crucial third victory in the sixth match of the finals, which aired on Tuesday night. The outcome hinged on the final question, where Raut, despite providing an incorrect answer, strategically placed a winning wager while trailing in second place.
This is Raut’s first Tournament of Champions title. He previously appeared on Jeopardy! in the regular season, winning three games in a row. His performance in the Tournament of Champions solidified his reputation as a trivia powerhouse.
While the spotlight shines on Raut tonight, all the contestants deserve recognition for their impressive knowledge and competitive spirit. Troy Meyer, along with Ben Chan from Green Bay, Wisconsin, who also reached the finals, showcased their expertise throughout the tournament, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.
As the reigning champion of the Tournament of Champions, Raut has been awarded the coveted $250,000 grand prize and a coveted invitation to compete in the upcoming “Jeopardy! Masters” competition.
Congratulations to Yogesh Raut, the newest Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions champion!

Who is Yogesh Raut?
Acing the Tournament of Champions Semifinals on March 8th, Yogesh Raut secured his spot in the championship series. This prestigious event features returning champions from the prior season of “Jeopardy!”
Raut, a past contestant himself, had quite the showing during his initial run on the show last year. He skillfully navigated three victories, amassing a total of $98,000. Additionally, he participated in a history-making episode in January 2023 where every contestant displayed exceptional knowledge, answering every question correctly.
Following his initial run, Raut garnered some negative feedback from viewers. In since-deleted social media posts, he expressed his discontent with the show’s format, feeling it didn’t fully embody the spirit of a quintessential trivia competition.
Raut openly addressed this controversy in a recent article for American Kahani, an Indian American publication. He expressed his disappointment that the negativity from anonymous online critics overshadowed the positive memories of his experience.
However, his recent Tournament of Champions victory has him singing a different tune. In a post on the “Jeopardy!” website, Raut, who grew up in Illinois as the child of immigrants, recounted his initial attraction to trivia as a means of assimilation due to his non-traditional name.
“Years of dedication and perseverance were crucial in reaching this point,” Raut stated. “Victory wasn’t solely based on skill; a touch of good fortune also played a role, considering the caliber of my competitors. The unwavering support network surrounding me served as a shield, allowing me to concentrate solely on the competition.”
