Uconn student dies falling from a parking garage
A tragedy unfolded as a UConn student lost their life after a fall from a high level of the south garage onto the pavement below.
The incident occurred in Tolland County at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, on the Storrs campus.
Stephanie Reitz, the director of communications for the college, reported that UConn police and fire personnel swiftly responded to the reports of a person falling from a high level of the south garage. The male victim, an undergraduate student whose identity remains undisclosed, was urgently transported to Windham Hospital in Willimantic with severe injuries.
Sadly, the student succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital, as confirmed by Reitz.

The Office of the State Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of his death. While UConn Police continue their investigation into the circumstances, no criminal or suspicious elements have been identified.
Expressing condolences, Reitz stated, “The University extends its deepest condolences to his family and friends and is providing support and resources to other students with whom he was connected.”
